I am 32 and making 25 a year ….

it is not how much you make but rather how you spend it and make it last. I am a single mother of 5 and have managed to get a house and keep them dressed for over 8 years on my own. So i think it is just a matter of knowing how to take care of your money ~

I am 30 and I am currently going to college so that I can make six figures. The biggest challenge will be getting a job that will pay six figures after I graduate. lol

It depends on the job, and what *perks* there are. I'll take less pay if healthcare is covered, and if there are good vacations….I'm not in it to *be greedy*, ok? ^__^

So…if it's a real job with perks, and I'm a single person, I could be happy on as little as $20K a year, after taxes. You heard me. Right now I'm living on about $8-9K a year, so yeah, I could make things stretch….not to mention, I don't actually "need" a lot in life. I'm pared down to the bones right now as it is…

If I have no perks and have to roll my own healthcare at full cost because HMOs won't cover psychiatric meds–a realistic scenario I've actually encountered twice–double that to $40K at least.

If I'm married too….double that to $80K. Add an extra $40K per child, mainly so I can get them a *Good* education and keep them healthy too.

If I'm living in one of the three biggest cities–New York, Chicago or Los Angeles–where prices and the cost of living are *Nuts*, *Triple* all figures above, since I don't want more than *one-third* of my income to go towards rent or mortgage payments….

That's it, in a nutshell, for me. I don't want to be rich….just happy. Comfortable. Is that so wrong? Edit: And I'm 42. Which by itself seems to make me unemployable these days, never mind my health problems…. o_o

Good money is being able to provide the things that are nescessary (eg. House, food, water, toiletries like deoderant and shampoo and soap, clothes) for your family. If you're alive and have a good family and are happy with your life, aside from money, then you don't need a 6 fig. sallary.

We're in our mid 20's and our combined household income is approx 86k per year. It's not fantastic money, but it's enough for us not to be struggling with bills or anything like that. When I went into my career field (childcare) I knew I would never make the big bucks, but that's okay. I'm happy and fulfilled in my job and to me that's more important.

Good money is making enough to keep a roof over your head, food in your kids bellies, and the lights turned on while still being a family. Six figures means nothing if it's at the cost of seeing your kids grow up. As long as they have what they need, I would rather do without some of the things I want to spend time with them before it's too late.

If I'm single I say 75K and above is fine.

If I have a family, 100K and abov is fine.
