Good vid. Most people need a serious reality check if they really think they can “make it” in music.

if u are good the rest followz automatically….its a fact. if they dont sign u then open your own thing and give them headache theyll buy u out. grinding is an art too. you should put in the hours instead of drinkin and using all your energy on girls. its called investing energy in the right sectors.ofcourse nobody is gonna sit by and watch u become successful. strategy and tactic.i master both;)good luck.

When you get to a point where you can’t make money in the music business do what i did and sue a successful act for a bogus copyright suit. You will probably lose and have less money than you started with but will be able to get free publicity for your next dismal selling album.

    Just get out and …
Just get out and gig in a local area or town and try to get a following and forget about money ,practice hard and get to a high standard like andrew ,and like he said you need luck lots of it to get signed to a major label and make big bucks and alot of people dont want that either ,being told what sort of genre to play by record company guys your song must be only 3min 15 long and that , prince got it right dont’ conform do what you want if you like it do it,

    it should never be …
it should never be about the money but the art ,thats why the 60s produced great experimental music because the big fat cats had that entrepaurnerial spirit of who knows = even if you dont like or understand what the record is whats coming in the door, the person in the executive chair may not be the total arbitor of taste of the intire population. And these s like simon cowell are deciding and brainwashing young adults and producing banility of the highest order.

    like frank zappa …
like frank zappa said “we were better of in the 60s with the cigar chomping old guys who saw the product in front of them and said “who knows” put it out if it sells it sells. In this day and age the so called “hip young record executives” or head ceo’s are deciding what people should see and hear in the market place, these guys are more dangerous to the art form that the old guys ever were andrew is so clever and logical its only about 1 percent who get big but what is big? commercial success?

I am 40 years old now, I still get to play guitar once every two weeks or so. when I was younger, I was an avid player back in the day (before youtube) 6 to 8 hrs a day.I tried to get in the music buss. but didn’t work out, but i had a lot of fun played with some great people. I’m a computer drafter now, how boring. Great show.

I just watched Part 2 of this on Wasson’s site. I wish that I heard this stuff 15 yrs. ago! Up till my mid-20’s I tried to make a living but learn’t real fast that it is ONLY about total luck and at every turn there were people with their hands out ready to take my money for recording, photography and graphic design. Making a living in the business like Wasson talks about is all about serious skill as a player and being well networked. Thanks for these vid’s !!

I am 36 years old when I was a teen into my mid 20’s I wanted to be in the business, I gave up after a while because I realized it was a chasing after the wind. so I still play but for enjoyment only. and that’s about 1 min to 10 every other day. oh well but hey I record my songs I create so when I die family that find my Cd’s will enjoy them or throw them away.
