How much money ($TT) would I need to start up with in Trinidad & Tobago?

Im 19 years, I live in chicago and is looking to go back to Trinidad to live. I want to know approximately how much money I would need to start school and stuff. I intend to look for a job when I get there. But I need to know how much would be enough just so I can start school and do basic stuff?

1. What exactly do you mean by start school? As in attend University? Or do some other eduction programme? Your answer to that will greatly affect the amount of money required. Both UWI (http://sta.uwi.edu/) and UTT (http://www.utt.edu.tt/), universities based in T&T, allow for use of Gate and/or HELP which offset the cost of studying. Not sure about the arrangements at University of the Southern Caribbean or other tertiary level institutions. You should do some research into those http://www.stte.gov.tt/

2. Basic stuff: u living on your own or staying with family/friends? Using public transport, buying a (used) car? What, what? About TT$2000/month should cover basic expenses, but it depends on what you term basic, e.g. car payments, credit card payments and rent can easily be in excess of the TT$2000 all on their own.

A good guess is that about TT$15000 (USD2500) should be able to start you off, and keep you afloat for about 4 to 6 months..it all depends on what you do during that time.

p/s:- 1 USD = 6.1805 TTD

The same amount of money you would need to start up in any part of the United States! There is really not that much difference!
