A parking fee of about $8-10 should get you close enough to the Falls to walk. Also, the Niagara Parks Service offers a $10 parking lot which includes a free shuttle service to and from the Table Rock Complex. Their observation decks (both indoor and outdoor) are free. They get their money from other attractions, shopping and their food service, all of which is optional for you to do. There is a charge for the Maid of the Mist boat ride under the falls and for going down in the tunnels to view the Falls, and for lots of other tourist activities. But, there is no charge to stand at the wall and observe the falls. If your kids are American citizens under 16, they will need their birth certificates to cross the border. If they are 16 or over, they will need passports. Any under 18 must have a parental letter of permission to cross the border without their parents.
