How do i get my kids in modeling without paying money?
I have 2 Beautiful girls ages 6 and 8, and when I say beautiful I mean that they’re beautiful, not just saying that cause they’re mine, I get that they are soooo pretty, and are they twins all the time. I want to put them in modeling or acting or something but I don’t have the money I feel like people should be paying me for my beautiful girls I would never pay anyone for what is already mine. Please anyone with suggestions on how to get started with a modeling agency or something to that nature? Thanks
There is no way without paying money unless you can win a contest sponsored by some company like Gap that was mentioned below.
Even if your kids were signed by the kids division of Ford or Wilhelmina, the top 2 agencies for child models, you would still have to pay for their comp cards ($600-800 each) as well as 2-4 portfolio shots to put in their book unless they have tear sheets from paid jobs to put in it. I don’t know any agencies that pay for portfolio shoots for child models because their careers are generally so short due to their changing looks. A cute 4 year old is not necessarily a cute 6 year old, for example. And because they are children, you’ll have to get new comp cards produced every year as a child’s looks and height change so much from year to year. Most agencies or clients won’t look at a comp card if the pictures are more than 12 months old for child models
As the other posters point out, it will cost you a lot in transportation to drive you daughters from go-see to go-see. The average model goes to 20 go-sees before getting booked on a job. With 2 girls that would be 40 go-sees. Are you prepared to drive them around the state day after day when there is no guarantee they will even get that job?
All I can suggest is that you mail pictures of your daughters to the Ford and Wilhelmina offices nearest you and they will call you if they think your daughters have potential and want to see them in person

Here’s the problem….. No where in that entire paragraph do you state anything about what the girls want. It was all "I", "me" and "mine". If your girls aren’t interested in modeling, despite how beautiful they truly are, then there’s no reason you need to be worrying about an agency.
That being said, if the girls are interested and you don’t want to fork over any money, then you’ll have to start at the bottom and work your way up. Malls and department stores are constantly needing volunteers for upcoming fashion shows. You don’t have to pay, but you don’t get payed either. Its good exposure for the girls though (again, assuming that’s actually what they want). Check the newspaper for companies that need young models. Catalogs typically need young girls to model their clothes. Although more experienced girls and girls who have a portfolio will likely get offered the job first, if your girls are as beautiful as you say, their face may be enough to get the gig.

Not gonna happen, at the very least you would have to pay for headshots, a portfolio, an agent and lots of gas and travel money.

I used to be in modeling,
What you do is AVOID modeling schools.
There nothing but a big scam. And any
modeling agency that wants you to pay
are scams too.
Look online for local agencies search:"Agencies in (your city) for
kids" stuff will pop up.Oh and send in pictures to their website
too and apply.
If your daughters are that beautiful they will call.
I dont know anything about acting though.

LEGITIMATE modeling agencies don’t charge. There is more than beauty to modeling… they need to have a personality that comes across in front of the camera. Has either girl expressed an interest ? Most larger cities have community theatre and acting classes, but I would not push anything that they have not expressed an interest in.

A good modeling agency should never ask for you to pay them. Do some research to find a reputable agency (if you know anyone who’s already in modeling, ask for recommendations). Make sure you read every detail through carefully before agreeing to anything, you don’t want to end up conned.
Hope that helps - on another note, I understand you want the world to see your beautiful daughters, but is starting them off modeling really what’s best for them? They’re only 6 and 8, why not just let them be kids?

It’s a huge commitment. Do you work? Because guaranteed you will be taking time off work all the time to drive them to photo shoots, try-outs, etc. These thing happen during work hours, not during convenient weekend and after-hours times.
There is no such thing as modeling without paying the costs. Headshots will cost you, gas money driving them around all the time will cost you, and time off work to do these things will cost you.
It’s really a trophy wife’s hobby. Something a woman who doesn’t have a job can do with her time, taking the kids around to their modeling gigs while her rich husband pays for everything.

I wholeheartedly agree with the first answer. This seems to be all about you, not your daughters. There are plenty of beautiful kids in the world, and the vast majority of them never model. Your daughters are children and should be treated as such. They are not your meal ticket and should not have to work at a young age. Leave them alone and if they make the decision to go into modeling when they’re older, so be it. Don’t be the next Joe Jackson.

People are always telling me that my child is gorgeous, too. That doesn’t mean I’m going to run out and exploit him for financial gain.

Gap, Old Navy, and other clothing companies have free online contest every year for kids to model in their next years catalogs and online websites. The contest will start sometime this fall. You just go to their website and submit photos of your girls. They will then have a voting contest to get the overall contestants. Those contestant will then get a full ride to California to do a photoshoot. If they do good their then they will get all of the clothing used in their shoots plus a $5000 Gap gift card. They pay everything. Hotel, plane, etc.,. It doesn"t really pay cash but it will get your girls started.
